My friend Jim brought by some artichokes from his garden, some to eat and one to enjoy visually. Isn't this just gorgeous?

You've had a busy week - apricots, snakes and an artichoke. It's simply gorgeous - yet another western plant that is completely outside of my sphere, and lovely. What a wonderful earth this is that produces such variety!
It's hard to imagine June as a terrible month, when it's one of our "winners" - altho not as nice as May, I have to admit. It's been a nice spring so far, but that always makes me nervous about July and August and that sneaky September ...
